This page will be used to communicate software updates initiated by SOMTech. This could include updates distributed through the LANDesk software or through Active Directory. This will not include updates that are initiated by software already installed on your computer. Updates may be distributed through the School of Medicine all at one time or over a period of days or weeks. If you have any questions or concerns about an update, please contact us.
Title: Viewfinity Update

Description: SOMTech is distributing an update through Active Directory to the Viewfinity Privilege Management software. This update offers new functionality on the backend that should improve response time and usability. It also offers more customization in the messages that users see. It will be distributed to the SOM departments over the next couple of months.
Title: IDX Update

Description: VCUHS is updating IDX and requires that the software on the computers be updated. An update is being pushed to all computers that have IDX setup on them. The update is being distributed through LANDesk Saturday morning at 3:00 AM. If the computer is not on, then it will happen after it is turned on. Internet Explorer will be shut down during the software upgrade and the icon on the desktop will be changed to a purple icon. If you are unable to access IDX as of Monday, please submit a ticket to SOMTech.
Title: SOM File Server to be Rebooted

Description: Due to an issue that is preventing some SOM computers to not be able to access their department's file share, one of the file servers will be rebooted this evening. This will cause an expected downtime of around 5 minutes around 8PM. This should not cause any permanent issues, but as a precaution, it would be best to close and save any open documents from the file server. This only affects users on SOMADFS2.
Title: IDX Update

Description: VCUHS is updating IDX which is resulting in a new URL. An update is being distributed through Active Directory in order to create a new shortcut on the desktop of users that have IDX installed. This may result in an icon even if you do not use IDX if the software is installed on the computer. The new shortcut can be deleted in those circumstances. In order to get this update, the computer needs to be rebooted. The new IDX icon is red and may take a couple minutes to appear after rebooting. If it is not available by Monday 3/24, please submit a ticket.

Title: Group Policy preference Setup for Windows XP

Description: A specific Windows update is being distributed through Active Directory to all Windows XP computers that currently do not have the update. This update will allow us to use features that are only built into Windows 7. The features will be used when we migrate to the Rams domain, but will have no effect now. Title: DDPE EME Update

Description: An update to the DDPE EME external media encryption software (formerly Credant) is being distributed through LANDesk. The new version of the software has a new visual layout and fixes a bug that made accessing encrypted files on a Mac difficult.
